  • Propagation of uncertainty in crustal anomaly maps/models
  • Geologic interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomalies
  • Digital compilation of magnetic surveys
  • Public release of digital magnetic grids and image products
  • Innovative display of geophysical information

CURRENT RESEARCH

  • My current primary focus is on new methods to deliver trustable magnetic anomaly information for use in alternative navigation (i.e., navigation in the absence of GPS).

  • I am working with other members of the GEOMAG team on updates to the 2 arc-minute global magnetic anomaly compilation for inclusion in high resolution global models for navigation and support of directional drilling.

  • I am part of the “MagMapper” team to assist the Dept. of Energy in development of a citizen science application to verify the location of suspected orphan wells.

  • I was a member of the joint State Department/NOAA/USGS effort to map and describe the extent of the United States Extended Continental Shelf according to the definitions in the United Nations’ Law of the Sea, Article 76.  My role included scientific leadership for the Arctic and Atlantic regional documentation.
